Local 2554 Official Position on “Illegal Immigration Crisis” and

“Secure Our Borders against International Terrorism”

The National Border Patrol Council believes that the following measures must be taken in order to stop illegal immigration and to secure our borders for protection against international terrorism:

    1. Eliminate the employment magnet that attracts million of illegal aliens to this country annually.
    2. Eliminate the benefit magnets that encourage illegal aliens to remain in this country.
    3. Refrain from rewarding those who have broken our immigration laws.
    4. Prior to considering an expanded guest worker program, ensure that the employment magnet is eliminated and that an expanded program would not depress wages in the United States.
    5. Provide adequate funding for the personnel and equipment necessary to secure our borders, enforce our immigration laws, and protect against international terrorism.
    6. Enhance the level of planning, coordination, and cooperation between Federal, State and local government.

Reading Local 2544 Tucson Sector Web site we found these lines very appealing for us to share with you:

“President Bush, read our lips, NO AMNESTY! Your continuous defeatist rhetoric about "we just can't deport 12 million people" got old about a year ago. Repeating it ad nauseam doesn't make it any more truthful. Secure the border, cut off the jobs and free government handouts, start hammering greedy employers who hire illegal aliens, and watch them make a run for the border.....heading south by the millions. Many of them will "self-deport". If you had this same defeatist attitude about Iraq, Saddam Hussein would still be in power. We're not buying your amnesty sales pitch down here in the real world. Maybe you can explain to us why we're risking our lives to stop the same people you keep encouraging to come in by the millions with your incessant pro-amnesty speeches ("guest-worker", "earned legalization", etc.)
In 1954 under President Dwight D. Eisenhower the United States Border Patrol, with just over 1,000 agents, was able to remove over 1,000,000 (one million) illegal aliens from the United States. This took approximately one (1) year. It is a documented fact that the vast majority (over 75%) of the illegal aliens who left this country "self deported" when they saw that the American government was serious. President Eisenhower had become very concerned about the number of illegal aliens in the country, and he wanted to put Americans to work in the jobs being taken by illegal aliens. We now have over 10,000 Border Patrol agents in this country (and growing). We also have improved communications and we are able to transport people more efficiently. It should be no problem to send 10,000,000 illegal aliens back home in a year with an aggressive enforcement effort. Those are the plain facts. People can make excuses all day long and provide 1,000 reasons why we "just can't deport that many people". However, history proves that this defeatist attitude is dead wrong. Those people such as Mr. Bush who keep repeating this rhetoric should be questioned more diligently by the media. Mr. Bush should provide evidence that the task is too large, but he can't. The bottom line is that the people of this country (who are supposed to be running things) want our immigration laws enforced, but many politicians simply lack the will to let us do our jobs properly because they are cowards. What Mr. Bush really means is that he and others lack the intestinal fortitude to see our laws enforced. You might even say it's "hard work" to enforce the laws. We can't put it in more simple terms. It is what it is. If you are offended by the facts go to another web site and bury your head in the sand like many of our "leaders" have done.” (1)

When Smugglers Try to Run You Over With a Vehicle........08-26-06 you’re supposed to:
A. Shoot at them;
B. Chase them;
C. Wave at them and say "Bienvenidos a Los Estados Unidos";
D. Throw a pamphlet at them on how to apply for Amnestia;
E. Offer them food, water, medical care, and counseling at taxpayer expense;
F. Beg them not to report you to OIG and/or the U.S. Attorney's office for using an expletive when you dive for cover; or
G. Let them go.

We realize you probably thought this was a trick question, but of course the correct answers are C, D, E, F, and G (failure to complete all 5 procedures could subject you to severe disciplinary action). Trying to run someone over with a vehicle would be a felony called "assault with a deadly weapon" in most states, but in California their BP brass says that once the smuggler tries to run over you and goes by, you don't even have the authority to chase him because "the threat has passed". This ACPA went on to state that even if he tried to run over three (3) agents in three (3) different locations, that we have no authority to chase him. The next thing they'll come up with is "when a smuggler tries to shoot you, you can't shoot back because the threat (bullet) has already passed". On a serious note, if anybody doubts that Border Patrol agents are under attack by the United States government, polish up on the Ramos and Compean debacle in El Paso (below in "Agents Railroaded........"), and then read the entire story about how we're not supposed to chase anybody on the NBPC 1613 web site here. This smuggler tried to run down three Border Patrol agents with his vehicle, and the Border Patrol agents have been disciplined for chasing him. Unbelievable. (2)
