Checkpoint Grievance Settlement

On 4/7/17 Local 2554 signed a settlement agreement with the Department of Homeland Security concerning the grievance and subsequent arbitration between AFGE NBPC Local 2554 and 2595 and U.S. Department of Homeland Security, U.S. Customs and Border Protection, U.S. Border Patrol, Sectors El Centro, CA and Yuma AZ awarded 6/14/2012 by Katherine J. Thompson, Arbitrator.

“Eligible Border Patrol personnel” are current and/or former Border Patrol employees who are or were members of the El Centro and Yuma bargaining units and who between December 22, 2003 and December 31, 2009 were assigned to checkpoints in the El Centro and/or Yuma Sectors and were compensated with Administratively Uncontrollable Overtime (AUO) for checkpoint duties requiring them to wait for relief before leaving their checkpoint duty post.  Eligible Border Patrol personnel also include Border Patrol agents who were temporarily assigned to or detailed to the El Centro and Yuma sectors and who otherwise meet the criteria set forth in this paragraph.

On 7/19/17 AFGE NBPC Local 2554 voted to open the checkpoint list for 30 days starting 8/1/17 and ending 8/31/17.  At the end of this open period AFGE NBPC Local 2554 will finalize the checkpoint list and start to make payments to the affected personnel.

All that is required to add your name to the checkpoint grievance list is to send an e-mail to an executive board member stating your E.O.D. and that you worked at the checkpoints between December 22, 2003 and December 31, 2009.
