Where do your Union dues go?

The union dues for Local 2554 are $29.34 every pay period.  There are 26 pay periods in a year divided by 12 months so your monthly union dues equal $63.57 per month.  This $63.57 goes directly to AFGE.  AFGE takes $20.91 per month and sends the remaining $37.77 to NBPC.  NBPC takes $28.00 per month and sends the remaining $14.60 to local 2554.  When the bi monthly amount of $29.34 leaves your paycheck only $6.74 goes to your local.

What do you receive for your $14.60 monthly contribution to Local 2554? Union reps are available to help with memorandums, grievances, and oral replies for discipline.  Local 2554 can bring agents issues to the PAIC, CPA, or the press.  Agents are eligible to participate in the dental plan, and any grievance or lawsuit that is brought against the agency.

What do you receive for your $28.00 monthly contribution to NBPC?  NBPC is the biggest contributor to PORAC paying $700,000.00 per year.  This allows you to call PORAC and be assigned a lawyer when you have a use of force, or are involved in a shooting.  NBPC also reimburses Local 2554 for training and technology up to $10,000.00 per year.  NBPC can bring agents issues to the President, Congress, and the press.  Agents are eligible to participate in any lawsuit that is brought against the agency.

What do you receive for your $20.91 monthly contribution to AFGE?  We are currently looking into how we can better utilize services from AFGE.  There are certain discounts you can receive from phone companies, credit card companies, and vehicle rental companies.  We receive training from AFGE, but we have to pay for it.  AFGE can also petition the federal government on our behalf.
